Professor Richard L. Hasen

Professor Hasen is the William H. Hannon Distinguished Professor of Law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

Professor Hasen is a nationally recognized authority on election law and campaign finance regulation, including constitutional issues involving First Amendment, due process, and equal protection. He has taught courses in a variety of areas including Remedies, Election Law/Law of the Political Process Seminar, Torts, Legislation and Contracts.

Professor Hasen is co-author of a leading casebook on election law and co-editor of the quarterly peer-reviewed publication, Election Law Journal. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Campaign Legal Center. Hasen also writes the widely read "Election law blog."

In 2002, Hasen was named one of the 20 top lawyers in California under age 40 by the Los Angeles (and San Francisco) Daily Journal. In 2005, he was again profiled by the Daily Journal and named as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in California.

Before entering academia, Professor Hasen was an attorney at Horvitz & Levy. Since leaving the firm in 1994, he has maintained a close relationship with the firm and continues to work for Horvitz & Levy as a consultant on various matters, particularly in cases involving issues of constitutional law.
